The website is available in French, English and Dutch. In the event of any discrepancy in interpretation between the versions, the French version of this legal notice shall prevail.
06
Intellectual property
Website content
All the elements making up the website — overall structure, texts, historical articles, photographs, illustrations, videos, logos, coat of arms, graphic guidelines, icons, layouts and downloadable documents — are protected by intellectual property law and, unless stated otherwise, remain the property of the association des Amis de Montcornet or of its rights holders.
Any reproduction, representation, adaptation, translation, modification, extraction or reuse of these elements, in whole or in part, by any means and on any medium whatsoever, is prohibited without the prior written permission of the association, subject to the exceptions provided for by the French Intellectual Property Code, in particular the right of short quotation with a clear mention of the source and of the author’s name.
Educational and journalistic use
The association welcomes requests to use its content for educational, academic or journalistic purposes. Such requests should be sent to info@chateaudemontcornet.fr and should specify the items concerned, the intended use and the medium of publication.
Trade marks and distinctive signs
The name “Château de Montcornet”, the castle’s coat of arms and the logos appearing on the website may not be used without permission. The logos of partners, institutions and companies reproduced on the Partners page remain the exclusive property of their respective owners and are displayed with their consent, for the sole purpose of acknowledging their support.
The monument and its image
The castle is a historic monument; access to it and photography within the site are subject to the visitor conditions set by the association. Any commercial use of images of the monument taken during a visit must be submitted to the association for prior approval.
Third-party software and libraries
The website uses open-source software (WordPress, together with its plugins and themes) distributed under their respective licences, as well as fonts and map data made available by their providers. These elements remain governed by the licences of their authors.
07
Hyperlinks
Outgoing links
The website contains links to third-party sites: the association’s social media, the donation platform, institutional and corporate partners, activity providers and a mapping service. These links are provided for visitors’ convenience.
The association does not control the content, practices or privacy policies of these sites and accepts no liability in respect of them. Visiting a third-party site is done solely at the user’s own risk and is governed by that site’s own terms of use.
Incoming links
Anyone may create a link to a page of this website, provided that the link opens the page in a new window or tab, that it creates no confusion as to the origin of the content, that it is not associated with a context that harms the image of the association or of the monument, and that it does not use any embedding technique that conceals the source. The association reserves the right to request the removal of any link that does not comply with these conditions.
08
Liability
Accuracy of information
The association takes the greatest care over the accuracy of the information published. Opening hours, admission prices, event dates and visitor conditions are given for guidance only and may change, in particular in the event of bad weather, restoration work, safety requirements or an unforeseen event. Before travelling, we recommend confirming this information by telephone or email.
Availability of the website
The association endeavours to keep the website accessible at all times, without being able to guarantee this. Access may be interrupted for maintenance or updates, or because of technical constraints beyond its control. Such interruptions do not give rise to any right to compensation.
Content published by users
Messages left in the guestbook are published under the responsibility of their authors. As the host of such content within the meaning of Article 6 I 2 of the French Act on confidence in the digital economy, the association is under no general obligation to monitor it, but promptly removes any manifestly unlawful content reported to it in accordance with section 12.
IT security
It is the user’s responsibility to take appropriate measures to protect their own equipment and data. The association may not be held liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from access to the website, from its use, or from being unable to access it.

Personal data
The association processes personal data in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 (GDPR) and French Act no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978, as amended, known as the “Data Protection Act”.

10
Cookies and trackers
A cookie is a small file placed on a visitor’s device when they browse a website. The Château de Montcornet website limits their use to what is strictly necessary for it to work.
En-têtes du tableau : Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Consent
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language cookie | Stores the language selected (French, English, Dutch) so that pages are displayed in that language | 1 year | Exempt: strictly necessary for the service requested |
| Session cookies | Placed only when logging in to the website's administration area, for authorised members | Session | Exempt |
The website uses no advertising cookies, no social media trackers and no audience measurement tools. No consent banner is therefore required, in line with the CNIL guidelines on trackers exempt from consent. If an analytics tool, a social media pixel or a service such as reCAPTCHA is added later, this section must be updated and a consent banner put in place.
Embedded third-party content
The Contact page displays a map provided by OpenStreetMap. When this map is displayed, the provider receives the visitor’s IP address as well as the technical information needed to display the map tiles. This integration is subject to the terms of use and privacy policy of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
Managing cookies
Every browser allows cookies to be viewed, blocked or deleted through its privacy settings. Blocking the language cookie may prevent the website from remembering the language you have selected from one page to the next.
11
Accessibility
The association wants the website to be usable by as many people as possible. It has been designed to adapt to computers, tablets and phones, with a hierarchical heading structure, legible contrast levels and keyboard-operable navigation.
Improvements are still possible, in particular regarding the alternative text of images. Anyone experiencing difficulty accessing published information may report it to info@chateaudemontcornet.fr; the information will be provided by another means and the problem corrected wherever possible.
As a private association, the website is not subject to the obligation to publish a declaration of compliance with the French general accessibility framework (RGAA), which applies to public bodies.
12
Reporting content
Anyone who considers that content published on the website infringes their rights — copyright, image rights, privacy, defamation — or is manifestly unlawful may report it to the association.
The report, sent to info@chateaudemontcornet.fr or by post to the registered office, must include: the date of the report, the name and contact details of the person making it, the exact address of the page concerned, a precise description of the disputed content, and the reasons why it should be removed.
The association reviews every report and immediately removes any manifestly unlawful content.
13

This legal notice is governed by French law. Any dispute relating to its interpretation or performance falls within the jurisdiction of the French courts. Before any legal action, the parties shall endeavour to reach an amicable solution; a complaint may be sent to the association using the contact details below.
